For the individual project, you will define a problem and use GIS to generate information and analysis that helps you to solve the problem. These instructions are deliberately minimal in order to offer the most flexibility. Please talk to me about your project ideas.
The completed project will consist of:
- GIS database
- Analyses and maps derived from the database
- Brief paper
- Brief in-class presentation
At a minimum, your project will include:
- Four layers - some or all for analysis, or some for background reference
- Modifications based on attribute edits
- Modifications based on spatial edits
Data sources can involve the following:
- Country, subregion, state and/or county data available from ESRI.
- Data found or created elsewhere. It is likely that significantly less help will be available for this data.
Spatial Analysis:
- Statistical comparisons based on spatial or database selection
What you need to submit:
- A minimum of four professional-looking maps (or equivalent):
- Maps are linked thematically
- Maps are linked stylistically
- Paper:
- 3-6 page paper discussing the process of completing the project, including what you learned
- Presentation:
- Share highlights of your project with your classmates.
- GIS Database and relevant files
